How you’ve been shaping our communication

Communication is at its best when it’s shaped by the people it’s meant for. That’s why, when looking at how we can improve, your views help us to know what’s important. You’ve been telling us what works well about how we communicate, and what you wanted to see from us going forward, and we’ve been listening.

What you told us:

  • You wanted more frequent communication from us on the things that matter most to you
  • You wanted relevant updates about your neighbourhood
  • You value updates on a broad range of topics
  • While digital formats were preferred by many, print remained important to many of you

What we’ve done with your feedback:

You’ve told us you want more things through posted through your doors:

  • Alongside digital, print remains a core part of our communications offer. Our quarterly Customer Catch-up newsletter is crafted with both print and digital in mind, to make sure you’re kept informed, in your chosen format, and at regular intervals.

That’s not all. With each Customer Catch-up we ask what you want to see in the next edition, and make sure your feedback helps the newsletter grow and improve.

You told us there were issues with a lack of in-person and personalised service, too many points of contact, and a desire for more local events and presence in your community:

  • To help us reconnect with our communities, we sent personalised postcards through your letterbox with a photo and contact information for your Neighbourhood Officer.
  • To better connect our customers and make it easier to find the information you need, we also added a postcode search tool to our website to help you find your Neighbourhood Officer instantly, and launched our digital and printed events calendar to keep you up to date with events in your area.

Two years ago, we launched a customer consultation to shape our Communications Strategy going forward.

For one month, we invited feedback through our website and by email, and your responses gave us valuable insight.

This feedback became the foundation of our new strategy, which continues to guide us and help us prioritise what you want to see.

Amongst other things, the strategy you helped to build is committed to a multi-channel approach, delivering clear, consistent updates in formats you actually use – and want.

These are just a few of the ways you’ve been shaping our communication at One Manchester, and the collaboration doesn’t stop here.

What’s next?

We’re continuing to look at how we can improve, with what you want to see remaining at the heart of the changes we make.
