Rightsizing
Is your home starting to feel a little too big? If your living circumstances have changed, we're here to help
What is Rightsizing?
Rightsizing is all about helping you choose a home that fits you better, without compromising on a sense of belonging, comfort, and community - the things that matter the most.
What could be your perfect fit?
If your current home feels harder to manage, emptier than it used to, or simply no longer right for you, Rightsizing might be just what you need.
Rightsizing offers the chance to move from a larger family-type home into a smaller home that’s easier to look after, more comfortable, and cheaper to maintain.
People think about Rightsizing for lots of reasons, including:
- Reducing household bills (including bedroom tax)
- Having a home that’s easier to clean and maintain
- Being closer to friends or family
- Planning for later life
If you don’t qualify for Rightsizing, but are still looking to move, Mutual Exchange might be a better fit for you. Mutual Exchange helps you relocate to another property by swapping your home with another social housing resident anywhere in the country – you can find out more about the service here.
A new home, with added benefits
Moving can feel overwhelming, but you won’t be doing it alone. A dedicated Rightsizing Officer will support you from your very first enquiry through to the moment you’re settled into your new home.
To make things easier, our Rightsizing offer includes:
- Free home removal, taking away the stress and cost of organising a move
- A £2,500 cash payment paid after you’ve moved, to spend on whatever you like
- A low-commitment free service – there’s no pressure to move if you choose to enquire and receive expert guidance
Same comfort, same convenience – just the right space
Every home offered through Rightsizing is close to local shops, services and transport links, so you’ll still have easy access to everything you need.
Whether you’re worried about getting out and about or unsure what your new surroundings might feel like, we’ll help you find a home that feels familiar, connected and right for you.

What Rightsizing meant for Ritchie
Ritchie is one of the many people who have used Rightsizing to find their new home. Ritchie lived in a three-bedroom house in Blackley. After his wife passed away, he was looking for a smaller, easier home to manage.
