Independent Living communities

Our Independent Living communities offer people aged over 55 a chance to downsize and move into a social community with like-minded neighbours.

Our locations

Our Independent Living homes are located across central, south and east Manchester, meaning you don’t have to move too far away from the people and places you love.

If you're interested in a tour of one of our Independent Living communities, please get in touch by calling 0330 355 1000 and we can book an appointment for you.

What support can I expect?

Our Independent Living residents live in homes managed by a dedicated Independent Living team, who offer support around day-to-day tenancy management. Our team work with customers to put support plans together, so that we can tailor our service to meet the needs of the individual. These homes are all about residents living independently, but with added support.

Our Independent Living Officers are on hand to help residents when they need it.

Independent Living residents have access to communal areas, giving them opportunities to socialise with neighbours and take part in organised social events.

Customers also have access to a chargeable 24 hour a day monitoring service, provided by Alarta Call. Residents are given a handy pendant to wear which allows them to quickly call for support if needed. This can give you peace of mind that help is available if needed at the touch of a button. Our Independent Living team actively works to tackle social isolation, health issues, build a community and support any concerns customers raise.

Neighbourhood inspections at your Independent Living community

Come along to our new neighbourhood inspections at our Independent Living communities. Current residents are invited to join us as we walk around your communities– you’ll have the opportunity to point out any issues you want addressed as we go. Whether it's something in the communal garden or overgrown trees – tell us about it, we’ll note it down and make sure it’s added to the list to get sorted.

What are these inspections for?

Neighbourhood inspections are all about us working together to keep your local area looking great. It's a priority for us to make sure your Independent Living communities are kept in a great condition so you can be proud of where you live. A key way we’ll do this is by staying on top of any necessary work at these inspections.

These inspections are for reviewing our outdoor areas, if you have issues indoors please chat to your Independent Living Officer about them.

When is my next inspection?

We’d love to see you at your next Inspection! These usually take bi-monthly depending on where you live. You can find the details of your next inspection, where to meet and when it takes place below. You can also ask your Independent Living Officer when the next one is.
