Priorities for your neighbourhood
Based on your feedback, we’ve agreed the following priorities to focus on in your area. We’ll keep you informed on our progress on these priorities, a minimum of every six months. We’ll do this in the following ways: In our customer newsletter - Customer Catch-up, at local residents meetings, via our dedicated Community Plans webpage and on social media.
These updates will help you see how we’re acting on your feedback and stay in the loop with the improvements happening in your area.
Priority 1: Tackling anti-social behaviour
We’ll continue to work closely with customers, Greater Manchester Police and other local partners to tackle anti-social behaviour in the area. We'll investigate reports, take action where appropriate and work with residents to address concerns. Our aim is to help make Rusholme a safer, more welcoming place for everyone who lives here.
Priority 2: Addressing environmental issues
We’ll continue working with local partners to improve the look and feel of the neighbourhood and tackle environmental issues that matter to residents. This includes taking action on issues linked to anti-social behaviour, keeping shared spaces clean and well maintained, and working with partner agencies to explore longer-term improvements to the layout and appearance of the area.
Priority 3: Making sure your homes are the right fit for you
We know that, over time our housing needs can change. That's why we're speaking to some households who may be living in a home that's bigger or smaller than they need. We'll provide information and support to help people understand their options and decide what's right for them. Any conversations are completely optional and focused on individual circumstances, helping customers find a home that suits their needs and is affordable for them. If you'd like to discuss your options, please get in touch with your Neighbourhood Officer.
You said, we're doing
Over the last few months, we’ve been out in the community listening to you. We held in-person focus groups, workshops and surveys with residents, local groups and partners to understand what matters most in your area.
You told us about:
- What you like about your area
- What you’d change or improve
- How safe you feel day to day
Using everything you shared with us, we’ve agreed the key priorities for your neighbourhood. Below, you’ll see what you told us and what we’re doing in response.

"We want to see more of you."
We're doing:
- Based on your feedback and what we’ve learned from our Tenancy Experience Visits, we’ve invested in an additional Neighbourhood Officer and reorganised our patches across the region. We now have nine Neighbourhood Officers and one Senior Neighbourhood Officer, meaning smaller patches, more local visibility and more time to support customers.
- We’ll continue to be visible in your neighbourhood through regular inspections, community events and opportunities for you to meet and speak with your local Neighbourhood Officer.
- We now carry out Tenancy Experience Visits in your home at least once every two years. This gives us a chance to get to know you, understand your home, and talk about anything you need support with.
- We’ll continue to run Neighbourhood Inspections every two months. During these inspections we walk your neighbourhood, check what needs attention, and record any issues before we next meet. In this plan, you’ll find the dates for your local inspections. You’re always welcome to join us and share what you’d like to see improve.
- You can also speak to us face‑to‑face at our weekly drop‑ins at Anson Cabin, where a Neighbourhood Officer will be available for a chat.

"We're worried about how the local area looks and feels."
We're doing:
- We’ll continue carrying out Neighbourhood Inspections every two months. These inspections help us identify issues, agree actions and keep track of improvements. You’re always welcome to join us and share your views.
- We’ll keep focusing on fly-tipping and alleyway issues, particularly around the Anson Estate and the Arreton, Hythe and Gatcombe areas, and take action where needed.
- We’ve cut back bushes on Pankhurst Walk to help prevent fly-tipping and improve visibility, making the area feel safer and more welcoming.
- We’ve also introduced a co-ordinated action plan on Flamborough Walk to tackle fly-tipping. We're working closely with Manchester City Council, who own some of the surrounding land, to make sure we take a joined-up approach to improving the area.
- We’ll continue organising community clean-up days to help keep the neighbourhood clean and well cared for. We’d love customers to get involved, and details will be shared in advance.
- We’re working with Electricity North West to improve the condition and appearance of their equipment in the area, helping to keep the neighbourhood looking its best.
