We’re offering special packs to our residents and staff to help them celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE Day in lockdown.
The National Housing Federation have partnered with The Poppy Legion, the National Memorial Arboretum, and Citizen to provide ways for us all to mark the occasion whilst we are in lockdown. The anniversary of Victory in Europe Day on 8th May was set to be a significant occasion with the May bank holiday moved and large scale events planned to commemorate the landmark.
There are packs for children and adults and they include puzzles, recipes, extracts from Churchill speeches, lyrics to war songs and much more.

As well as this, the Imperial War Museum will be commemorating 75 years since the end of the Second World War in Europe, sharing the personal stories of people who stood together during a time of national crisis and their reflections once the fighting had stopped.
They will have a virtual exhibit called Voices of War. At a time when people across the nation are coming together to support each other through an unprecedented crisis, the Imperial War Museum are asking households to take a moment on Bank Holiday Friday 8 May, the 75th anniversary of VE Day, to play a four-minute soundscape featuring first-hand accounts of VE Day selected from IWM’s vast sound archive.
You will be able to listen to the soundscape on the IWM website.
