Sir Howard Bernstein has set up a Summer School Project to help connect school leavers with the world of work.

This is an exciting opportunity running from 2 July to 5 September and will involve 11 sessions over 10 weeks. There will be a focus on growth sectors in Manchester with workshops to be delivered by industry leaders in ICT, Construction and Financial, Professional Services and Hospitality.

The project is designed to help prepare school leavers with the skills they will need to enter work, focusing on things like learning to network, boosting confidence and promoting a positive attitude about employment.

The course will run as follows.


6pm - 8pm

Students welcome to bring parents/ carer/ support staff along. Students will receive clothing voucher for Primark for business wear for employer sessions and Goody bag. Overview of Programme. Ice breakers.

Talk The Talk - Communication Workshop at Lloyds Bank Market Street.

Post 16 and 18 year old's options workshop, with GM Higher and The Manchester College.

CV Writing/ Interview Skills.

Digital Literacy Skills Workshop at UK Fast offices.

Kier Construction Workshop at St. Peters Square followed by a construction site visit.

Bee in The City Trail. A cultural enrichment day around Manchester.
