Two of One Manchester’s housing schemes at Erneley Close in Longsight and Folkestone Road in Clayton have been nominated in this year’s North West Regional LABC Building Excellence Awards.
Our ‘Passivhaus’ refurbishment, which involved the transformation of six bungalows and 32 flats in two blocks of 1960s maisonettes at Erneley Close, has been nominated in the ‘Best change of use of an existing building or conversion’ category. Having completely transformed the dated and fuel inefficient properties with a new architectural identity and using energy design and build techniques to achieve the Passivhaus EnerPHit energy efficiency standard, the scheme has already scooped the Best Domestic Retrofit title at the Buildings and Energy Efficiency Awards and was a finalist in the Inside Housing Top 60 Developments Awards.
Our affordable housing new build scheme at Folkestone Road which was completed in December 2015 has been nominated in three categories: ‘Best new housing development’, ‘Best social or affordable new housing development’ and ‘LABC Site Agent of the Year’. The scheme has involved the building of six spacious new two-bedroom family homes for affordable rent built to high quality energy efficient standards with ample gardens.
The winners will be revealed at an award ceremony at the Macron Stadium on 15 April 2016 with the winners going on to the national final which will be held in London in November.
