On Friday (2 July) we were delighted to be able to hand over the keys for a brand new family home in Gorton to local couple Aimee, Adam and their four-week old baby boy, Noah. The young family were the first people to sign for one of four new affordable two-bedroom homes on Stanley Grove in Gorton after bidding on Manchester Move and they couldn’t have been happier.
Student nurse Aimee said: “We were just so relieved and excited that we’ve got somewhere for him and it’s perfect.”
After the initial excitement of finding out they were expecting a baby, Aimee and partner, Adam, a primary school sports coach, started to worry about their living situation, as they were having to live separately with parents and Aimee’s house in particular was getting overcrowded.
Aimee said: “It was already really overcrowded at my mum’s house and we only got to stay together a couple of times a week, so we were really stressed. This came up and we came down to have a look, loved it and bidded on it, then we were just waiting and hoping. We just want the best for him. We wanted somewhere to set up his nursery and get his bits and bobs out.”
Adam added: “It was only about a week before he was born and I saw all these missed texts and calls from Aimee when I was at work and I thought maybe she was going into labour but she was telling me we’d got this place. I don’t think it’s really kicked in yet but there’s loads of space and with a back garden for him as well, it’s lovely. There are parks and a youth centre and everything we need.”
The homes were built by contractor, Whittle Construction Limited, following a successful bid for £112,000 funding from the Government’s Homes and Communities Agency and Disposal Proceeds Fund.
All four homes have now been let at affordable rent via Manchester Move. We hope all the new Stanley Grove residents will be very happy in their new homes.
