The £5,000 funding received by Green Fingers has been put towards completing the paving of a large path as well as beginning the build of three greenhouses due for completion in the spring. The work has helped improve the DIY skills of the group and provide improved facilities for growing vegetables for the local community.
They have already seen 350 pots of tomatoes, peppers and nasturtiums sewn during the season, with more potting to be done over the coming months. The funding will continue to improve the site with the introduction of compost bays and the re-glazing of greenhouses.
The group meet on Wednesday and Thursday between 10am and 2pm and have a volunteer day on Monday during these hours.
