The Community Grocer in Ardwick won the Community Achievement Award at the 24Housing Awards in October this year.

The dedicated team of volunteers made their way to the awards ceremony, and deservedly won the award as recognition for all their hard work in helping to feed the local community.

Community grocers are an alternative to food banks and offer food, toiletries and household essentials at reduced prices. Customers will ‘join’ their local community grocer and then pay £2.50 per week to choose eight items.

Most food banks require a referral form from an agency such as One Manchester before they will issue food parcels.

We have a number of different Grocer projects across the city including Fallowfield, Gorton, Hulme, Rusholme and Longsight. Our One Money Team can also provide information about food banks service available in areas such as Clayton and Whalley Range.

If you are in need of food and have nowhere else to turn please give our One Money team a call on 0330 355 1000. They can help with basic budgeting, appealing benefit decisions or assisting you to find employment.
