Supported by One Manchester and We Love Manchester, the idea of setting up in the park was to take the familiar Sunday Assembly mix of inspiring talks, music and poetry right to the people, with the bus offering just enough shelter to escape the Manchester showers.
Musical entertainment was provided by talented young singer and songwriter Chia Kali from Moss Side, with some Manchester classics performed by Ian Lawton. There were also fantastic readings from local poets Oliver-James Lomax, Yvonne McCalla, Natalie Lek and Remi Adefeyisan.
Tasty treats were also provided by Back on Track, a Manchester charity which supports adults experiencing problems with alcohol or drugs, offending, homelessness and mental health to make lasting, positive changes in their lives.
Sunday Assembly Manchester meets every month, usually at The Wonder Inn at Shudehill, for chats, motivational talks, poetry and a good old-fashioned sing-along.
