Partnering with organisations such as the Royal Exchange, Contact Theatre, Manchester Camerata music project and the new Home arts, theatre and film venue help us to ensure our communities can enjoy the cultural opportunities the city has to offer. It also helps customers interested in pursuing a career in the creative industries gain practical skills and experience.
The Cultural Ambassadors are a group of volunteers who are helping us spread the word about how getting involved in art and culture can have a positive impact on your health and wellbeing. They help with projects, take people to the theatre and give us their views about how we can get One Manchester residents connected to all the culture the city has on offer.
Allison Forbes, aged 77, has loved theatre, dance and music all her life and now uses that passion in her role as a Cultural Ambassador:
“Getting involved as a cultural ambassador has given me the chance to continue and widen my interest, as well as introducing other people to what Manchester has to offer because I don’t think a lot of people make the most of the opportunities in the city. It’s worth making an effort especially as you get older because you make a lot of friends through getting involved too.”
