Thursday 3rd August sees the launch of the READ campaign, which aims to raise literacy and boost reading across Manchester. The programme aims to bring together schools, children’s centres, libraries and local organisations to encourage reading for people of all ages.
For the under 5s there will be singing and story time, crafts, face painting and refreshments. We will also be challenging adults to read six different items which could include a magazine, newspaper or even a children's book.
As part of the challenge each read is recorded and rated in a reading diary, and on completion readers will receive a certificate to celebrate their achievement. Those signing up to the six read challenge will automatically be entered into a prize draw for the chance to win a £20 Love2shop voucher.
We are proud to be working with Gorton Imagination Library on the READ campaign, who were awarded funding from our Community Soups project last year.
For your child’s opportunity to register with Gorton Imagination Library, come along to the launch which takes place on Thursday 3rd August 1.30pm-3pm at East Hub, Belle Vue House, 27 Garratt Way, Gorton, M18 8HE.
