One Manchester are looking for a Digital Volunteer to support those aged 55 years and over with IT.

IT is a fundamental part of society these days and so many of our tenants lack the awareness of working a computer and relevant software packages. Tenants who are unable to navigate the internet miss out on cheaper utility bills and food bills. Lack of digital skills does hinder the equality of life for our tenants.

We are looking for volunteers to run the digital workshops. You will be required to develop the content for the session. Don’t let this worry you, the content can be very basis; such as navigating the internet, how to conduct research online, creating a letter in word, compare quotes online etc. This digital workshop is especially targeted at those tenants that are over 55 years old.
In the initial few weeks of a new course, we would like the volunteer to support the learners to progress through ‘Learn my way course’ developed by UK Online to enable the learners to gain the basic skills and awareness of operating a computer. This way you can assess the level of IT skills among the learners and get to know them better, before you start creating your own sessions. After the online modules have been completed you will be able to encourage the learners to pursue their own interests. For example we currently we have a gentleman in the group who is looking for his long lost brother and we are supporting him with his search.

Getting involved in this project is great, if your interests are:
