Building on the services that we offer across the city, The Work Shop will provide support to residents in the local area with work placements, training and volunteering, money advice, going into self-employment, and one on one job search training. There will be money advice including help to set-up a bank account to ensure customers are ready for the world of work. We’ll also be offering the Working Wardrobe service from The Work Shop, providing interview clothing for men from referrals.
We’ve kept these services in Moss Side as the hub is well located, and easily accessible from other areas. We want to ensure that people who don’t have the option to travel can still receive the support and advice they need.
Sam Barber, Group Head of Opportunities at One Manchester, believes that The Work Shop will offer people personalised, community-based services, right where they’re needed. She said:
“The location of The Work Shop is at the heart of the community, which means One Manchester will be able to support as many people as need it.
“We know that there is a demand for this personalised support service. Whether you need advice and guidance on how to search and apply for a job, or you’re in need of a suit for your first interview, we want to offer help in an accessible way.”
The Work Shop opens on Wednesday 24th April, at The Work Shop, 130 Alexandra Road, Moss Side, M16 7WD.
